:: Austin Gladney is an artist and musician currently working in Baltimore, md. His work utilizes digital sound environments, hand-built instruments, and analog hardware to explore connections in live performance to the human condition. Borrowing from imagery and compositional elements of sound from early popular music, familiar themes of loss, grief and love are confronted and processed resulting in catharsis expressed in audio visual experience. These appropriations are further abstracted through contemporary elements of drone, electronic noise, and magnetic tape to create washes of sound coupled with the nostalgic hue of analog video. The temporary nature of these performances emphasize time, offering fleeting ephemeral moments of calm and reflection. This coalescence of old nostalgia re-imagined with new experimental processes formulates a deeper understanding of how we relate to one another and our collective mediated environments in the space of live performance ::
